David Carrico

David has spent his career building companies at the intersection of media and technology. In 2011, he co-founded EVNTLIVE (acquired by Yahoo!), one of the first interactive concert streaming platforms, producing interactive live concert streams with artists including Lady Gaga, Moby and Bon Jovi. In 2015, seeing an opportunity to create a film and television studio championing independent voices, David founded Valparaiso Pictures (Acquired by Annapurna in 2021). Valparaiso produced Emmy-nominated documentaries and Sundance award-winning films and partnered with distributors such as VICE, NEON, Magnolia, and top streamers. Yet to be released projects include a reimagining of "Barney" with Mattel and Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya. Most recently, David served as COO of Speakeasy AI, a social AI company incubated by Emerson Collective and The Atlantic. David has been an active investor and advisor writing early checks into the likes of Metaphysic AI, Rosebud AI, Campus, Polygon and RYOT (Acquired by Verizon). David currently serves on the board of directors of media & education company, DoubleBlind and as Managing Partner at JLABS.
